RIFT VALLEY ODYSSEY navigated by GARMIN:

3 days, 260km, 4,300m ascent.

 

The Rift Valley Odyssey is Kenya’s most extreme mountain bike race; crossing diverse landscape between Limuru, Naivasha and the Mau Escarpment.  The RVO traverses the high altitude forests on both eastern and western escarpments of the Great Rift Valley, riding challenging terrain from technical single-track forest trails, exhilarating descents, arduous ascents (peak race altitude is 2900m), pristine wilderness areas, open savannah teaming with wild game.  This is an event that should not be missed, the most challenging and adventurous cycling race in Kenya.

 

For international visitors, all ground logistics will be handled by the Safari Company  http://www.thesafaricoltd.com/ Nairobi accommodation will be at the Country Lodge http://www.countrylodge.co.ke/ and a post RVO safari package to the Maasai Mara has been planned; a 30 minute charter flight will depart from race camp in Naivasha directly to the Maasai Mara, for 3 nights in a luxury tented camp.  The RVO coincides with the peak of the annual wildebeest migration, which is recognised as one of the 7 natural wonders of the world.
